About Altrusa:
- Altrusa was established in the United
States in 1917, first classified service organization for
women. Men are invited to become members in Altrusa also.
- Altrusa does service projects in the
community, the heart of Altrusa.
- Altrusa promotes leadership, helping
to build and enhance skills.
- Altrusa has strong global concerns: to
learn, grow, participate and share with members around the
world.
- Altrusa is a builder of women and men.
- Altrusa is an expression of the search
for the best in character,
and the willingness to serve the community.
- Altrusa as the very derivation of its
name, is committed to the philosophy of unselfishness, of
the joy of giving rather than getting and to the search
for the happiness that is based upon spiritual worthiness.
- Altrusans believe it is not enough to
be good; Altrusans must be good for something. Each member
must be doing the piece of work that is hers in a way that
puts her in the front ranks of accomplishment.
